[Review] OSIM uMist Baby air humidifier

We are lucky recipients of an OSIM uMist Baby air humidifier as a complimentary gift, so I've decided to do a quick review of it.

Product information:
The fine mist evaporates easily to humidify your room and helps to moisturise your skin, soothe your throat and moisten your airways, relieving breathing difficulties caused by dry air.

It has a night light function which is especially helpful for children's rooms.
Air humidifiers need no introduction, as they have been around in the market for quite some time.
The uMist Baby came in handy because it has been a season of flu and bugs for our family and every parent knows what a nightmare it is when children fall sick!
I like that it is very small and easily placed at a corner of the boys' room.
The only downside however, is that due to its small chamber size, water needs to be refilled daily if you turn it on through the night.

Other than that, I find that it is a great product because I woke up without a dry throat even though I was having sore throat, and I didn't hear the boys wheezing at night which happen when they have dry nasal passages.

Edit to add: Another advantage of OSIM uMist Baby is the mist doesn't leave any water marks AT ALL even though I put it right next to the curtains. Fantastic!

Retails for SGD$88 at all OSIM outlets.

Thank you OSIM!

  1. Hi, passerby here who got into ur blog when googling on bb stuff. Impressed by ur energy despite being FTWM & having 2kids! Good job! :).
I'm a newbie mum who's returning to work & leaving my 3mth bb under mil's care. Since mil is taking care of bb full time & we stay w her, I wonder if bb will only recognize her as mother instead? If so, I will be greatly saddened! :(. Do u face such problem with ur mil who is taking care of ur boys? Also, how do u ensure that ur infants only recognize u as mummy & love u the most? Just asking for tips here...haha

  2. Hi dear :)
when I am home, I focus all my energy on my kids. Kids are very smart and they know who are their parents! so you dont have to worry at all as long as you spend quality time with your baby everyday :)
Also, I make sure my in-laws do not overtly spoil my kids like buying them too many toys/sweets etc. Once in awhile they go out and buy something for the kids is Ok but overall I must have the final say, like whether or not he is allowed to eat sweets before bedtime, or can only play not more than 30min toys before heading to shower etc.
Just make sure you are overall in-charge so they know you are the boss! Heh.

To be honest, my MIL never interferes with my parenting when Im home, mostly because whole day she face my kids also tired already, when Im home shes more than happy to pass the baton back to me HAHA

It's not easy at all, but somehow all FTW-mummies like us will manage. Jia you! :D

  4. Hi Veron,
Have you tried cleaning the Umist? How do you actually clean it to prevent any bacteria from breeding in the tank itself?
    Thanks

  5. Hi,
I've bought an OSIM umist baby humidifier recently. The chamber will only hold up water enough for 6 hours and then the LED light will turn red indicating low water level. I'll like to know what will happens when that happens and the power is still on and unattended (perhaps I'm still asleep?)
Also question no. 2: I've tried adding some water based essential oil on the sponge as suggested but there's no fragrance at all. The mist will never ever pass through the sponge and hence I can't see how there would be any aromatic effect. Have u tried putting any aromatic oil?.
    Thank you.

    1. Hi, my version of this humidifier stated that we can't use essential oils with it.
So anyway, I've long replaced this with Young Living's diffuser and essential oils.
It's much better because it auto turns off once water level finishes, and it won't destroy the therapeutic properties of your EOs :)

Do email me velvet_fuzzion@yahoo.com.sg for any questions U have.
