[Advertorial] iPrice SG online shopping coupons.

Hi Mummies, if you're a busy bee like me who has to manage full-time work and come home to my kids and husband, you will know what quality time means. Every waking moment with family counts!
Hands up if you do most of your shopping online, and kudos to websites that not only cater to our fashion needs, there are also many sites which offer groceries and baby essentials just a click away.

Due to the enormous numbers of websites that have sprung up in recent years, chances of fake and swindling websites are on the increase. Therefore, the first step to online shopping is to pick credible e-retailers such as Zalora, Foxysales, Streetdeal, Valuebasket, Smartbuyglasses, Expedia and Zuji, just to name a few.
Apart from sourcing for reliable websites, finding good deals and discount coupons are also important in helping to save cost.

Personally, The Husband is a huge fan of http://www.zalora.sg/. He bought shoes, tees and bermudas from Zalora before and had encountered speedy delivery services every single time.

I would like to introduce a relatively new discount coupon site which offers consumers like us discounts off our online purchases. The catch? It's absolutely FREE!

If you have not heard of www.iprice.sg, I highly encourage you to check them out.
When the very kind people of iPrice contacted me and asked if I would be interested to write about them, I jumped at the chance.
How's a bargain-aunty like me to turn down an opportunity for online shopping, what's more with discounts?!

Obtaining the discount coupons are as easy-peasy as 1-2-3, I promise!
p.s. If you need to squint, click on the photos for full-sized images.

1. Go to http://www.iprice.sg/coupons/ on your internet browser. A list of available coupons are displayed on their website.

2. Click on the "Get The Code" button and a pop-up bar will show you the code you can apply. Clicking OK on the pop-up will also automatically direct you to the discount website. In this case, we chose Zalora.

3. Don't forget to always check on the coupon's terms and conditions. You will be prompted to enter the discount code upon Checkout. However, if it's a printable coupon, you will have to print it out and bring it to the outlet or scan and email it.

I have here-in included a step-by-step video guide to using the coupons from www.iprice.sg

Sorry for sounding like a naggy relative, but I have to reinforce that discounts like these, no matter how small, go a long way, as all those dollars and cents do add up!

Now with these discount coupons, online shopping has never been more retail-therapeutic :)

[Sponsored reviews] Mummytoon organic baby products - Part I

Happy Mid-week mommies!! How is the week treating you so far?
I have been so busy ever since I came back from Rompin. Back to work, back to my kids and family, back to reality!
I have some sponsored goodies that I reviewed over the past week and finally have time tonight to share with all of you :)

Friends and family know I'm quite the organic freak. My children and I are large consumers of organic stuff, from food produce to milk and right down to shampoo and body wash.
Why choose organic, you ask??
I've actually written a post HERE explaining why I choose organic and why I feel it benefits our children.

As you might already know, organic stuff in Singapore do not come cheap. Therefore, I am constantly on the quest for affordable yet convenient organic retailers.
I first came across Mummytoon website about a year ago when I was pregnant with Ashton and sourcing for lowest-priced California Baby products and have been buying my organic supplies from them since. Not only do they have the full California Baby range, they also have Bellamy organic milk and cereal which Ashton is consuming at the moment.
Their doorstep courier service (FREE for orders $100 and above) saves me a lot of hassle.

Recently, Maria and Eileen from Mummytoon sponsored me several items for review on my blog and I must say I am very honoured!

Let's have a look at what the items are that came in our delivery!

Organic snacks, pureed juice, skincare, California Baby bubble bath, and SgBum cloth nappy.
We are stoked!

California Baby bubble bath:

I think this brand needs no introduction as it has been around for very long and remains popular with Mommies here and here's what we think:

Our skin, being the largest organ of our bodies, deserves to be treated kindly, more so for our children.
Babies usually have sensitive skin and are susceptible to rashes (heat rash, nappy rash, pimply bumps), therefore I chose California Baby due to its wide range (from shampoo to body wash to powder and creams), and being organic and sulphate-free (sulphate is the foam-causing agent in most soaps).
California Baby is kind on nature and even kinder to my family.

Verdict: It is very mild and suitable for the most sensitive of skins, and non-drying as well. Although the smell is rather subtle and doesn't last long (compared to brands like Johnson & Johnson), I will still buy it because sometimes my babies are prone to redness and rash on their skin due to our humid weather. Other commercial brands of baby wash leave their skin slightly dry and flaky on their limbs, but I've never experienced this with California Baby. Worth the money.

.
.
.
.

Next up: organic treats!

Happy Baby organic fruit puree pouches. (pictured first 3 from left)
Verdict: Available in different flavours, I brought these Puree Pouches out with us last Sunday when we had to be out the entire day (swimming lesson for Adam, lunch, going back to my Mum's, we were practically out the whole day). I mixed these into Ashton's organic cereal and it served as a complete meal for an 8-mth old with grains, greens and fruits. The puree is of smooth consistency and just like what you would expect out of puree jars.
Disposable and comes in just right serving sizes mean no wastage and no washing up.
Brilliant, me thinks!
.
.
.
Organix Goodies organic raisins and chopped apples snacks. Packaged in convenient, individual packs for travelling with your tods:

Verdict: I like these small individual packs for the added freshness and convenience because it just means I don't have to pour them into snack holders. This shaves a lot of weight and bulk from my diaper bag which is so important. Plus, raisin and apple snack - something you cannot go wrong with especially on your little tikes!
.
.
.

Happy Baby organic fruit puffs - in banana flavour:

Certified USDA organic and melts in baby's mouth. Which means, they are good for toothless eaters just like my Ashton!
Verdict: Good thing they come in BPA free bottles, which goes to show no expense is spared in ensuring the best for your baby. No harmful plastic, no harmful chemicals in the treats that go directly into their mouths and gastro-intestinal tracts.
The only downside I can find probably is, due to the large bottle size (as tall and wide as a 1L water bottle), and the lid not being air-tight, the puffs start losing crispness quicker than my kids can consume them. If you're thinking of buying this product, I suggest you pour them into airtight storage containers, or they simply make an ideal shared snack for playdates or parties.
.
.
.
That's not all. Our reviews of Mummytoon's SgBum cloth nappy will be up in the next post.
And by the way, have you checked out Mummytoon for the wide array of products they carry?

Plus.....Discounts for all Mumzilla readers!
Details up next :)

Thanks for swinging by and see you soon!

Review: LolliBox.

As you might have read from my previous post, we bought our first LolliBox from Smartkids Asia 2013. Here's our review:

A nice surprise for children - goodies filled to the brim to keep those active brains and busy hands occupied! In case you're wondering, we got the Itsy Bitsy Bugs box.

Adam checking out each packet of activity with keen interest.

He chose his first project - Incy Wincy Spider. Consists of a roll of black yarn, pipe cleaners, plastic plates and googly eyes. Comes complete with colorfully illustrated step-by-step instructions to enable parents to work together with their young ones, or older kids to comprehend on their own.

Adam pasting on Incy Wincy's googly eyes.

After Incy Wincy Spider was completed, we went on to make other itsy bitsy insects from LolliBox.

We made a Ladybug and grasshopper with the assorted colorful plasticine provided.

We saved the best bit for last - a glow-in-the-dark bug. Adam is thrilled!

Adam is pasting the wings on the Firefly.

The dark moment he's been waiting for all evening. Finally can see the glow-in-the-dark effect of his hard work!

and finally, a badge of honour to reward Adam!

Thank you, LolliBox. Adam enjoyed his first activity box loads. He made me do all the stuff with him in one evening and it gave us a lot of good, clean fun learning:
+ Math (counting number of googly eyes, legs, wings),
+ Science (insects, their habitats, nature),
+ Hand-eye coordination,
+ Development of Fine motor skills,
+ Problem-solving and Logical thinking (following instructions to build things from scratch with allocated resources).

Hope you found our review useful and interesting. We definitely look forward to future LolliBoxes!
You can go to their website HERE: http://lollibox.sg/

**Get yours today to keep your tots busy this March holidays! :)

[Review] OSIM uMist Baby air humidifier

We are lucky recipients of an OSIM uMist Baby air humidifier as a complimentary gift, so I've decided to do a quick review of it.

Product information:
The fine mist evaporates easily to humidify your room and helps to moisturise your skin, soothe your throat and moisten your airways, relieving breathing difficulties caused by dry air.

It has a night light function which is especially helpful for children's rooms.
Air humidifiers need no introduction, as they have been around in the market for quite some time.
The uMist Baby came in handy because it has been a season of flu and bugs for our family and every parent knows what a nightmare it is when children fall sick!
I like that it is very small and easily placed at a corner of the boys' room.
The only downside however, is that due to its small chamber size, water needs to be refilled daily if you turn it on through the night.

Other than that, I find that it is a great product because I woke up without a dry throat even though I was having sore throat, and I didn't hear the boys wheezing at night which happen when they have dry nasal passages.

Edit to add: Another advantage of OSIM uMist Baby is the mist doesn't leave any water marks AT ALL even though I put it right next to the curtains. Fantastic!

Retails for SGD$88 at all OSIM outlets.

Thank you OSIM!

Babywearing: Bjorn Synergy

I did a review on Baby Bjorn Active carrier last week.
Just an update: I love babywearing so much that I bought another carrier!
Meet the Baby Bjorn Synergy in white mesh:

It's a successor of the Bjorn Active model, which is shown here:

The difference between the Active and Synergy is that Active is made of thick padded fabric material, which can get a little hot for both Mum and Baby in Singapore's humid weather.
The Synergy is made of breathable mesh material, and is therefore lighter weight and more airy compared to Active.

Both Active and Synergy have lumbar supports.

Advantages of baby-wearing:
- Hands-free and hassle-free outing with baby
- No more blocking of supermarket aisles as a stroller would
- Do not have to worry about folding / opening stroller, especially when you are out alone with baby.
- Keeps baby snuggled close to you.

For Mummies thinking of buying Baby Bjorn carriers but not sure which model to buy, it is recommended that you go to your nearest Mothercare to test out the different models.

Verdict: I'm using my Synergy daily and love it to bits. Gonna use it to death to justify the price tag!

Review: Baby carrier

Hi Rac, thanks for reading my blog. Here is the Baby carrier review you wanted, I hope it is helpful to you!

For my first child, I did not use a baby carrier. In fact, buying a baby carrier for Adam has never ever crossed my mind because mainly I am very petite (read: short & skinny) hence I did not think I could handle all that weight on my shoulders and back. Also, I drove everywhere if I needed to get out with Adam and I had a lightweight one-hand-fold stroller (Combi Miracle Turn) in my car boot at all times.

For Ashton however, the logistic situation in our household is a little different now.
With 2 kids under the age of four, I need hands-free and hassle-free when getting out and about.

I consulted Hubby's cousin for her opinion on baby carriers - she has a baby one month older than Ashton - and she said it was a great purchase because it is so convenient.
She is using Manduca carrier, which is made of organic cotton.
Speaking of baby carriers, there are just so many in the market, many of which I have never even heard of! Ergo, Manduca, Beco, Combi nina-nana, you name it.

I popped by the nearest Kiddy Palace to take a look at their carriers, and they only had Combi and Baby Bjorn, and some other lesser-known brands. I ended up getting a Baby Bjorn Active.
Just Baby Bjorn brand alone has several models, I found a Baby Bjorn buying guide here detailing the differences of each model.

Purchasing the right baby carrier is a very personal choice - in my Google searches on "Baby carrier reviews", so many results turned up, including topics like "Baby Bjorn vs Ergo", "Baby Bjorn Active vs Synergy" etc etc. The more I read, the more confused I became!

Bottomline: There is no right or wrong carrier, you have to find one which fits you.
I chose Baby Bjorn because it is an established and trusted brand and I see many parents using it.

Personally, I have only used this one and only Baby Bjorn Active, so my opinions would be biased, but I find it a good enough carrier. It can be used for baby up to 13kg as stated, though I am not really inclined to carry a 13kg anything on me for that long.
I used my Baby Bjorn yesterday and today to go from my home to my in-law's, and it is quite a dream.
Hands-free!

Here's a Youtube video on Baby Bjorn usage instructions (embedding was disabled).

I strongly recommend you to get one with lumbar support as the basic requirment, so that you wont have the weight of baby bearing down on your shoulders and back.
You may also want to check out Motherhood forums and eBay as there are many pre-loved ones in good condition selling for a fraction of the retail price, and you can always sell it again once you are done with it.

Happy babywearing!

Errands day

Spent my morning running errands. Being confined at home for the past month, I had lots of backlogged stuff to mail out / collect.
Picked up my haul - 2 pairs of skinny jeggings from New Future at $25/ea
and royal blue dress from
Tracyeinny. Dress here.
SGD$30 only.
Outfit: Cream sequin blouse from MNG
Red shorts from MNG
Red watch from Fendi
Beige bag: Chanel GST
Beige flats: Ferragamo

And finally!

I finally went to campus to pick up my Degree. Entering the familiar grounds and meeting my administrator, it was an emotional time for me. While all my cohort classmates have already attended their graduation, I had to give it a miss because of my pregnancy.
The delay has been almost a year.

Holding my hard-earned Degree, I feel the greatest pride and sense of achievement.
Thank you my dearest Husband and my beloved family, for all your help and support, for being with me in this journey.
From the time Adam was a wee infant to when he was two years old, that was how long my Part-time studies took.
I worked Full-time and studied Part-time. I rushed from work to evening classes and survived on sandwiches in the lecture halls. When classes ended, I rushed home from Clementi campus all the way back to Tampines to be with my precious baby.
Some nights when I came home, he was already asleep, when I left for work in the mornings he was not awake yet.
There were days where he didn't get to see me even though we lived under the same roof. It was hard.

Being a wife, a full-time working Mom, and a student was very tough, but it was my goal and I was determined to achieve it. And I did.

Today, I finally get to hold and caress it in my arms like a baby. Thank you once more Hubby, Adam and my family. Without you all, it wouldn't have been possible.

New Mummy bag

Bought me a new bag not too long ago. Despite using it quite a lot and the fact that I don't baby my bags anymore simply because I have no time to, it has proved to me that it is worth every cent I pay for anything H.

It still holds up well even though I trash it around and am not very careful with it since there's always a pint-sized terror zipping around. And so far no stains or rubbing of the Clemence leather.

A busy Mummy definitely needs hands-free bags!

Charmaine's Birthday

I'm 20wks+ Pregnant.. Almost 21W. Actually my arm very flabby in this photo but I made Charmaine crop my flab away. LOLssss

Our babe Charmaine turned 20-something on 13 April...
Actually she is 2 years younger than me, but she insisted that she's forever 21... that's why got 2 big candles and 1 small candle.. this woman not shy one, but it's her Birthday so let her win. Hahahahaha! Go figure.

The plan was for Meena & I to bluff her say I'm stuck at work and gotta cancel last minute but actually I went to Paragon - Cova Pasticerria to pick up her chocolate truffle cake then gotta take a cab down to Vivo City Carnivore to meet them.
I had to lie to Charm saying I was at work otherwise she will pick me up from my home (since we stay same estate).

So Ok, I went to Paragon picked up her cake blah blah... Then when I reached Vivo City, this Aunty Meena still havent reach. Hello. Supposed to meet at 12noon, I reached at 12.15pm and Charm also reached already but Meena still stuck in a jam near Woodlands!!!
Then what she wants me to do? I asked her, I go hide or what??!

So in the end I went inside Carnivore first, asked the waitress to hide the cake for me, then I called Charmaine and asked her get inside the restaurant because I was on a cab down from my work place. (But actually I was seated inside already. Of course lah, 1 pregnant Aunty carry cake run here run there cannot hide too long right?? Need to sit down mah)
So when she came in, she was quite surprised to see me, she thought I was still on the cab.

Then I Whatsapped Meena ask her change the bluffing plan - asked her to tell Charm she's not coming because she is still at home and some cock & bull excuse.
Of course Charmaine didn't believe it but we started eating without her (because she is always late for our gatherings, used to it liao. No fun already LOL)

So anyway, to make the long story short - we celebrated Charm's birthday and managed to surprise her with the cake.
This year, she made the most "aunty" wishlist - she asked us to give her Angpao because she doesnt know what she wants.
Actually I secretly planned to buy her a Ferragamo hairclip same design as mine but when I went to pick up my new shoes (more about new shoes later), they don't have the hairclip design anymore!!
Thought it was CLASSIC ??? So.... in the end no choice we gave her an Angpao.

Ferragamo Barbados jelly flats

My back started feeling like a 200 year-old lady since the beginning of my 2nd Trimester so I went to buy a new pair of flats (lame excuse, I know, heehe). Criteria: must be durable and cannot give me any blisters.
Saw these and fell in love with them immediately but because my size is always impossible to buy for (I'm sz 35, sometimes 34), the sales asst was very kind - offered to make an order for me.
But I had to wait 2 months before my size finally reached Singapore!
In March I finally received a call to go pick up my new shoes. Super comfy and size fits true.

Happy feet :)
