Say Hi to our new pets!

After a rather long and painstaking process, we finally added 8 happy swimmers into our pond.
They are: 3 Kohaku's, 1 yellow Ogon, 1 Sanke, 1 Showa, 1 Ginrin Chagoi, and 1 Tancho Showa, which is my favourite because of the red blotch on its shapely head, white body and black flecks.

Have a zen & happy long weekend folks!

the most beautiful room in the house

Presenting....

our Little Boy's Room.

Progress of our renovation works:
Paint jobs are complete, laminate tops are installed for bay windows.
We're left with some touch ups and carpentry work.
Tomorrow, the landscape company is coming to install our fibreglass tank.

I'm getting more and more excited by the unfolding of our almost-done home :)

New home, new plans?

As we are edging closer and closer to the Big Move, I can't help but think of what are our logistic plans and our school/work plans gonna be.

First of all, I would like to announce that I have found a new job.

Yes. I'm going back to being a working mom soon. I have been headhunted to join a private O&G practice in a swanky hospital in town, and the doctor is going to be my direct boss. That means, no more serving bed pans, no more working shifts. I will be a private nurse assisting my direct boss only and my clientale base will be those of private paying-class profile. That is all I'm willing to divulge. And my new boss has been very obliging, she let me start work in May, so these few months I've been free to catch up on my school work and shuttle to and from our new house overseeing the renovation works. Is that cool or what!!
I'm really happy to have been offered this job, so yeah, I am really looking forward.

Secondly, in an unexpected turn of events, we now have not only one, but instead, TWO contractors working on our house simultaneously at the same time. Though they are working on different areas of the house, we're just really lucky my Mom is sponsoring one of the two contractors. So yeap, we may have outdone ourselves this time, having 2 teams of people working on our dream home. I've always counted my lucky stars :)

Thirdly, with us moving house and me landed a dream job offer, I am currently discussing with Andy whether to pull Adam out of his current playschool because logistically, it is not feasible for me to wake him up at 6am in the mornings just so I could get to work at 8.30AM sharp. Andy wakes up at 10am for work daily, so by the time he sends Adam to school, most of the school day would be over since Adam gets off school at 12.30pm. It just doesnt make sense for him to carry on in his current school anymore. I'm abit sad, because he absolutely loves school and wakes up looking forward to seeing his teacher and friends everyday. However, I believe this would be the best arrangement for us, for now. He's too young to start a Nursery/Kindy program proper, since he isn't even 2 yet.
So right now, I'm thinking of signing us up for weekend enrichment programs at Gymboree (for play) and Growing Up Gifted. I just realised we still have 2 free sessions at Gymboree which we never got down to utilising. This would be a good time to do it.

So many new things coming up, we're excited!

There's a gem in my life

Hubby was on the way home from his weekly soccer practice and I Whatsapp-ed him I'm feeling hungry pls buy a loaf of Gardenia raisin buns (my fav).
Shortly after, he arrived home with Pocky biscuits and said the Cheers at petrol kiosk ran out of my raisin buns so he offered to cook Maggi mee for me.

He whipped up a storm - noodles complete with eggs & prawns.

We're both pigging out in the kitchen while our son is sleeping like well, a baby. At this hour. Gotta love a man who knows how to please his wife :)

Hello from Parc Lumiere

I'm now at the new home with Aunt LY checking for defects and testing all the aircon units. It's a tedious process but we're enjoying every part of it as I know it'll eventually be worth it!

Signing off,
V.

Here's Kai checking out his new home..

He said he wants to "you yong" (swim) inside the planter.... -__-

"Mummy, my new room!"
Sorry peeps if I sometimes take ages to reply SMSes or miss your calls. I've been busy as a bee with the new home, meeting contractors and different people for different quotations. Oh yah, we've given the go-ahead to our landscaping company to install a Koi pond in the balcony just yesterday, complete with Chengal wood decking as Andy & I had originally planned. I'm meeting more contractors tomorrow, and the week that follows. On top of all these, I have to rush for lectures and meet assignment deadlines. So yeap... forgive me for MIA-ing. Checking back soon!

Going away

My beloved Hubby booked us the next available weekend flight out of Singapore, but not before attending the Babies' functions over the past weekend.
This time, it'll just be the 2 of us, going to a foreign island, locked away in our secret paradise.

Cheers & happy weekend~

Where many more fond childhood memories will form. Not from falling off the slide I hope!

I don't know about you, but I love balconies! BBQs, inflatable kiddy (and doggy) pool-parties, sipping bubblies.... You get the idea.

Only $26 mailed. Add $2.50 for Registered mail. The girls were very friendly and prompt in my email replies, which made my first online order from them very pleasant.
My shorts are from Osmose at Wisma and cost only $29. Everything below $60. A real bargain if you ask me ;)

Long Bar

Paul's wife, A, and Morgan have gone back to Thailand to settle some domestic issues so after some sofa-shopping today, we headed over to Long Bar at Raffles Hotel to meet Paul for a fix.

The boys had Singapore Sling while I had my favourite...

Cosmo

We were probably the only Asians in the entire bar. Talk about minority group in our own country.

The culture here is, you stuff yourself with peanuts and wash down with booze... and then throw the peanut shells on the floor. Initially I was hesitant to dirty the floor, but Paul chided me and said "Go on! Because this' the only place in SG you wont get fined for littering!"

my organised mess.

If this image is blur, you are drunk!!!

Black halter blouse: from a shop in Chinatown
Black corporate shorts: Zara
Bag: Balenciaga Anthracite Part-time
Belt: Hermes epsom leather (this color is) Gold belt with gold buckle.
*** edit to add: The belt costs SGD$1050, correct at time of posting. But Gold is currently OOS as it was the last piece at time of purchase in both Liat Towers and Ngee Ann City. Left colors like Bleu Jean and black.

Hope you are having a great weekend, because we certainly are.
For a couple who's getting the keys to their new home in a week, we're super slack, because we havent even decided on a sofa set yet!
Either the head-rest is too short, making your neck strain just to sit the couch, or the shape/size is not right. ARGH.. Hubby says I'm too fussy.... but no choice lah, for the $$ you spend on purchases like this, better be fussy and satisfied instead of shoddy and regretful right?

Have a great one!
V.
