Yuletide Party 2011

Kickstarted the year-end parties on Saturday 17 Dec 2011 with BBQ and booze.

This is the real Birthday cake for deserving Dec babies - a 2-tier lychee martini. Yums!

We had lots of Cosmos, Mohjitos, White Russian and red wine going on last night

Things are heating up. Time to start feeding the people!

The hosts =)

"Santa Claus" entertaining the children

3 kids who speak 3 different languages put their differences aside and play in harmony. Adam graciously shared his toys with the kids and let them play in his bedroom. It's truly amazing.
I couldn't have asked for a better child. I'm so proud of you Adam. You are mummy's shining star =)

The guys gave Hubs a doll - a life-sized one - for good measure

You can't run away from this Honey.

Jason looks with admiring eyes and pouty lips

Taking turns to blow her... Sounds wrong!

Raymond got the largest lungs HAHAHA

thanks peeps for coming to our first year-end party held at our humble home.
It was great honor having so many family and friends to celebrate with us and we had a swell time...
Paul got drunk and went hugging my FIL and said to him "You're a good man"... (what the..???!) and my all-time Cheena Dad actually even liked mingling with our "ang moh" guests because he was impressed that they liked Singapore more than UK.
My Dad is the type of person who thinks Chinese people should always be proud of our roots and why should we have English names when Caucasians don't have chinese names yadayadayada.. so you can imagine what a huge sigh of relief I heaved last night.

It is always tiring to throw parties but all the effort is worth it eventually.
And I had lots of help from our helper Linda in restoring our messy house to "showroom" condition again this morning. Thank you Linda.

Life is not always a bed of roses, there will be times some people come and go, and then there are some who just want to be with you in happy times but once the honeymoon is over, they're out the door.
Only Family and true Friends are the real angels whom God sent to comfort us during our darkest times, to steer us onto the right paths when we stray, and to share our most joyous and happiest moments in life.
You guys made it happen, and we hope to host more fabulous parties in future =)
.
.
p.s. We will be packing up and first, celebrating Xmas with my MIL's family in Indonesia, then flying to Taipei to usher in 2012.

Bye guys and Yummy holidays!
Love ,
Veron, Andy, Adam.

Hubby turned 29!

We had a quiet celebration at home on Andy's actual birthday.
I had actually planned a small surprise for Hubby by waiting with Kai at home and turned off all the lights, but the poor kid waited so long for Hubby to come home to blow the candles until he fell asleep sitting up on the sofa!
Hubby said he'll be home by 9pm so we've been waiting since 8.30pm but he didnt get home till 10.40pm!! Next time cannot give this man surprises already!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

A simple cake I bought last-minute =P

We're sleepy! It's past 11pm at night on a workday on a Wednesday. Andy just got home from work -__-

Thomas & Friends live show

Aunt LY, my brother Junwen, Andy & I brought Adam to catch Thomas & Friends live musical show at United Square on Friday 16 Dec 2011.
The show was free but to qualify for the meet & greet photo-taking session with Thomas, a single receipt of $40 is needed to exchange for the pass.

Being the kiasu parent that I am, I started Q-ing at 5.30pm, 1.5hours prior to the show, and roped in Junwen to help in the Q-ing. The crowd was simply overhwhelming!

We managed to get 8th in Queue! There's nothing like family team-work!

Adam & the helper

We recently engaged a part-time helper recommended by Charmaine, to come in once a week.

It sure feels terrific not having to do the housework and come home to nicely made-up beds, squeaky clean floors, clean toilets and a spanking kitchen.
More importantly, Adam has taken to Linda instantly, and he seems to enjoy "helping" out in the housework. Like real!

Now, I don't have to nag at Andy to chip in with the chores, chase after Adam to clean up after him. A happy, non-grouchy Mommy = happy family :D
All thanks to Charm!

Potty Training

Aside from learning to walk and talk, every tiny person has to conquer another major milestone - TOILET TRAINING.
Potty training a 2 year old is quite a challenge - and I have to start asap since Adam is starting Nursery in a month's time so the clock is really ticking!

This is his very first potty, ain't it the cutest toilet bowl you've ever seen?!

What I do is, when we are at home, I will remove his diaper and let him go cold turkey.
Prior to potty training, he is able to tell us after he has already pooped so I am just going one step backward and hoping to "catch" his magical moment before the deed is done!

When his pee is trickling out to wet his pants, he will exclaim to us "Kaikai pee!" So we will make a mad dash to the potty. And thus far, he has only succeeded peeing in his potty ONCE.
The other not-so-successful time was when he had his weener pointing outwards the potty so although he was sitting on the potty, he was actually making a golden fountain. *sweat big time*

When I house-broke my 2 dogs with much ease, I thought that it was going to be easy with my own kid since I had "hands-on experience". Well, guess what?? BOOO, Veron!
No wonder so many parents buy story books on Potty-training and there are so many videos of Potty-training on Youtube.

That's why people always advise it's better to have kids while you are still young otherwise where to find all the energy to do all these things man.
Good luck to me!

Welcome a new princess to this world

Let's welcome a new member of our expanding gang - Baby Janelle =)
It's always nice to have a girl around.

Pretty Serene and her precious bundle

Uncle Jason hands-on practical lessons Hahahaha

After that, proud new-Dad YQ, Jason, Erin, Andy & I adjourned to Robertson Quay for wagyu beef dinner. Yumsss!!

Got wagyu tongue somemore. Never even heard of before man.

lovely charcoal grill on a cold rainy night. Superb!

Congratulations to Serene & Yong Qiang on the arrival of their princess.
Seeing them so happy on such a joyous occasion makes me feel very blessed to be able to share their joy too.

Lastly, let's welcome them to a whole new world of nappies, milk bottles, tantrums, sleepless nights, empty wallets, messy home, but also loads of laughter, love and a legacy.

There comes a point in life when fun no longer means clubbing, drinking, staying out 'till 4am or thinking about yourself first!
Fun means Disney movies, family dinners, bedtime stories, long cuddles, a messy house, sleeping by 10pm and hearing little voices say "I love you."
Becoming a parent doesn't change you, it makes you realize that the little people that YOU created deserve the very best of your time! ♥

So it's December...

The year has absolutely flew past.
In 2011, I have:
- moved into our own place
- become a monthly WWF donor
- changed jobs twice
- to wait for my exam results which determine whether I can pass my Bsc in Nursing *fingers crossed*
- learnt some important lessons in life which they don't teach you in school

Anyway, to wrap the year up, Happy holidays from Andy, Veron & Adam!

Our first Xmas

Even though Adam is already 2.5 yo, this will be our first Xmas spent together as a nuclear family unit, and in our first home.
As such, it marks a remarkable occasion for us and I've already fantasized about our very first Xmas tree months ahead!

Tonight, Andy & I went out to buy a 5" tree and some ornaments. It's gonna be a Gold-and-Red Xmas for us this year.
I did some Googling on the internet and found that nurseries actually carry real fir trees. Yeap. Those that you sit in a pot and water them. Real fir vs plastic? We chose plastic in the end because of the practicality. I'm not entirely sure how we're gonna transport it from the nursery and dispose it when it dies because obviously we dont have a fireplace to burn it.

Anyway, back to our plastic tree. Will post up photos of the actual tree when we get down to assembling it.

I'm so excited. Excuse me while I do some cart-wheels!
