My inane Sunday

I suddenly had the most revolting cramps and bouts of explosive diarrhoea, so I decided to stay home while my boys went out without me. Boo.

I woke up at 3pm and had my lunch. Remedy for gastro-enteritis.

Then shortly after, my babies are back!
My eldest, age 324 months old.

My youngest, age 17 mths.

Shoe sale.

There's a sale going on at United Square at the moment.
Trade in any pair of your tot's old shoes - any brand, any condition - and get $20 off a brand new pair of Osh Kosh shoes. That's practically half-price.

Me: Hon, I found a great deal today while browsing at United Square before work. (and I went on to tell him the above)
Andy: You know what's Mankind's greatest money reducing agent ever discovered?
Me: SALE.
Andy: It's WOMEN.

Bloody hell where got Hubby liddat say the wife. Hahahaha

I really need to stop buying stuff, especially since we're already going to HK next week!

A random noon with Mum's friend, Joryl

My long time ex-colleague cum nursing friend came over to visit today.
SO sweet of her to drop by. We havent been catching up for over a year now! The last time we saw eachother was at Kai's Full mth shower. Time flies indeed.

She's amusing Kai with her iPhone, letting him play with the apps and listening to the read-aloud story of Three Little Pigs. Kai is clearly bemused.

Thank God for girl friends.

Happy Birthday to Deepa!

Date: 23 Oct 2010 Saturday
Venue: The Aston, Poolside BBQ
Time: 6.30pm till late

The good people. They are Andy's friends whom he knows from their weekly football games.
There was music blasting from their patio and cocktail everywhere. Certainly feels as though they brought the entire Butter Factory back to The Aston!

Andy & Kai playing at the playground while Stefano and the other boys are busy BBQing away so that we can be fed!

Our son is doing his little break-dance to Lady Gaga music!

He was on a high tonight, dancing by the pool. OMG we gave birth to a Party Animal!
I think he had one too many brandied strawberry.

We're wearing our most favourite color!

Andy & his Italiano football pal, Stefano and hs lovely wife Laurine.

Choc cake from Four Seasons. Yum!

Time for Birthday girl to make a wish and blow the candles!

Deepa's dad gave her a doll, and he told her this will be the last "childish present" he's giving her, because she & Arjun are getting married!
Arjun gives Deepa a hug & kiss. Sooooo sweet we can die!

And there's no better way to enjoy a pool party than to get in!

OoooooOo Whee~! Having a splashing good time!

Happy Birthday Deepa!
Thank you Arjun for inviting us.
Obviously, we had an enjoyable night with the great food and excellent company.
You guys are really a fun bunch and really crack me up :D
Gracias!
Andy, Veron, Adam.

Faddy & Ingrid wedding 22 Oct 2010 Fri

It is the Wedding of the Year that we've been anticipating with bated breath.
Our friends Faddy & Ingrid got married at Fullerton Hotel tonight, and this is by far the most grand and extravagant wedding Andy & I have attended.

It was a grand affair which felt like a 2nd Jakarta with all the rich and affluent Indonesians. Big boys with their big cars, and the ladies with their peacock-looking gowns and big big hair.

When it comes to dinners and weddings, nobody does it more flambouyant than the Indos I can tell you.
and it's not just because their fleet of wedding cars included a Rolls Royce and a white Lambo!

With Faddy's mum.

My date for the night!

Posing with Hubby's sis.. haha

For their 2nd march-in, they played an upbeat number and everyone wore costumes and face-masks and danced out!

Their friggin' FIVE-TIER wedding cake! In case you're wondering, it's from Perla, and Yes, it is edible! Everyone ate cake tonight.

Some shots before Hubby & I ended the fun night.

I initially wanted to wear a red sexy dress but in the end I thought it was too loud and I didnt want to look like an ang-pao!
Anyway I am glad I decided to stick to classic ol' LBD. I was a little sad that we couldn't bring Kai, because it was a friends' and not a relatives' wedding so we thought we'd better leave Kai at home in case he gets bored to death.

Dear Faddy & Ingrid,
THANKS for the fun & glamorous night.
We wish you a lifetime of bliss and happiness in your marriage! :D

Love,
Andy & Veron.

Starstruck Sunday

And so Hubs & I headed down to Zouk for the Charity flea, and we were kinda star-struck cos we saw many local celebs like Apple Hong and the boys from the DG gang (a bunch of the hair and makeup gurus in the local celeb scene, but I just can't put a name to the faces!) . DG the man himself was not present cos he's currently overseas for an assignment but the stash were really quite amazing stuff.

Shorty me with a very gorgeous Apple Hong. She is friendly and has no airs about her, which is so rare for famous people nowadays. Isnt she pretty!
Can you see the Chanel boxes and clutches peeping from behind?

I bought a few blouses, dresses, and something in an orange box from Apple... but who's counting?
Andy also managed to snag something from the DG booth, a pair of very new limited edition Nike sneakers which are discontinued, at only $50. What a steal!

Sooo.... what's hiding in my orange box?

Did Santa come early this year?

My Hermes Kelly watch, in Epsom leather.
Nice?? :D
Now she can be best friends with my Omega Constellation.

More orange boxes and brown ribbons pleaseeeee! I'm loving it.

Ooo oooh and also, our dearest son turns 17-mths today, on the 17th!
Happy one-month-older sonny. May you continue to grow into an amazing, well-behaved, healthy, happy Bubs, and be a truly wonderful person with a beautiful mind and spirit.
Love,

your folks.

Zouk Flea & Easy

Don't know where to go this Sunday?
Everybody's favourite Flea market is here again, Zouk's quarter-yearly Flea & Easy.
The last time we went, top model Celia Tay had a booth selling her almost-new clothes and shoes.
This time, another media's dahhling, David Gan, is having a booth selling his loot.
You can expect stuff from Junya Watanabe and COMME des GARCONS.
Whatever it is, you know these celebs only wear their clothes once or at most twice, because God forbid they be caught in the same outfit twice!
Be deliberately caught wearing the same stuff that Christopher Lee wears because they always buy the same clothes.

Moreover, all proceeds from the sale will go to a charity of DG's choice.
So yeah, head on down to:

ZOUK Flea & Easy: Charity edition.
17 Jiak Kim Street, Singapore 169420
2.00pm - 7.00pm
Admission is ALWAYS Free!

Don't say I never say ;)
Happy Weekend shopping~

Me & him against the world.

The weather has been unforgivingly hot these few days. Our world is dying.
To escape the heat, I brought Kai to IKEA Tampines to hide in the aircon while he played at the Children's section. I love going to IKEA - there are recycling bins everywhere, reminding us that there is still hope for Gaia if we ever do try to do our part.

Just me and him, enjoying eachother's company. Watching him grow up so fast.

Kai kept wanting to play with the other children. I think my son is lonely and needs a sibling.
But the question is - "When?"
I love children, don't get me wrong. And I do enjoy motherhood alot, but I just think it is too much pain going through another pregnancy, another childbirth. Everything kinda goes haywire, and then takes another year to go back to pre-pregnancy state.
I hate to admit it, but I'm terrified of being cut up all over again.

It's easy for Hubby to say. Of course, he loves kids. He even made a poor attempt to humour me, saying since I don't look like I've ever been preggy n given birth before, we can go ahead and have more children. Er, hur hur.
And my parents & aunt have not-so-subtly dropped hints that it's time for us to make more babies. As a matter of fact, my Dad told me that he wants at least FOUR grand-children! *runs away* Everytime I wanna pack Kai's outgrown clothes and toys to hand down to friends & relatives, my Mum and Aunt LY object, saying they can be used for my subsequent children.
I always have to remind them that "Look, Kai has 2 (sometimes more) of EVERYTHING. Like why does he need 2 high chairs? He's not sitting in them anymore anyway".

Honestly, I wish everyone could gimme a break. It's not easy to raise a child, especially in our saturated and competitive country. If we were in Aust where perinatal care and delivery is FOC, and if we led a self-sufficient life in a farm growing our own food, making soap and knitting clothes, YES I will consider to have more children. But right now, we have to face reality.
It's not cheap to raise a child here. Baby bonus of $4k you ask?? My delivery cum hospitalisation costs already more than that, dahhling.
I'm not even talking about the Ralph Lauren or Baby Burberry apparel. Or the two-thousand-dollars pram. Those are just one-off purchases, you pay and then you forget about it. I'm saying, to have a sustainable life here needs alot of $$.

Kai is special to us. We want him to have the best in our abilities. Call me selfish, but a large part of me is also worried that if we have another child, we will have to share that love and attention. And that, makes me reluctant. I don't want Kai to share our love. He deserves our undivided affection.
If he tells us he wants a didi (brother) or meimei (sister), yes I will have mind-blowing (unprotected) sex with Hubby in a heartbeat.

But right now, on some days - like today - it's just Kai and me against the world.

Dinner with HongKie relatives

My Dad's relatives came to visit from Hong Kong so my parents threw a treat in town.
What do you get when you put a bunch of Cantonese together?

A nice sit-down 8-course dinner.

My Husband cannot speak Cantonese to save his life :P

Kai bullies my Mum into carrying him around the restaurant. He claims the Tang dynasty horse is called "mow mow" (cat) We tried to correct him "No Baby, that's 'ma', not 'mao' ". But he insisted it's a "mow mow" :P

Me & my Baby!

Hubby & Kai

Kai ate alot of this tonight. Grandma is guilty as charged.

Kai with the ladies of my family

My Daddy is a cheena-man at heart.

Wearing the bib that Charmaine gave!

My Grandaunt is 80+ and so petite but still strong enough to carry my 12kg son. Can you see they're about the same size? Kudos to her!

It was my Dad's Aunt's first time meeting Andy & Kai, and I'm glad they hit it off fabulously!
We had a dandy time, and lucky for us, Kai behaved like a dream and sat through the entire 8 course dinner without fussing.
He even ate all his Shark's fin and Peking duck!
What a good good boy, we're all proud of him :D
